About Ward: Acklam

Acklam was a village in Cleveland in the North Riding of Yorkshire, England. It was incorporated into the county borough of Middlesbrough during the early 20th century and is now a small suburban area of Middlesbrough in the borough of Middlesbrough and the ceremonial county of North Yorkshire.

Acklam was first mentioned, being referred to as Aclun, in the Domesday Book of 1086. It has been maintained that the name is Anglo-Saxon Old English for 'at the oak clearings' or 'place of oaks'.[1]

The modern postcode is generally TS5. Acklam Road runs straight through Acklam.
